About the University and the Institute The University.....Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences, Gangtok is incorporated under the State Legislative Act (Act IX of 1995) by the Government of Sikkim and is recognised by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f). The University offers a variety of technological courses in engineering branch. Medical courses are in the offing. Distance learning would be its main strength for offering need based innovative and job oriented programmes and flexibility its cornerstone in terms of course offerings, delivery systems and processes. The University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IIEE for the advanced transfer of knowledge and delivery of the course programmes in the areas of Ecology and Environment; Disaster Mitigation; Sustainable Development and similar other courses in joint cooperation. The Institute... IIEE established on the occasion of World Environment Day, 5th June 1986, the Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment (IIEE) is the only institution of its type in this country dedicated for studies, training, research and consultancy in the areas of ecology, environment, pollution control, natural resources conservation, disaster mitigation and sustainable development in the third millennium.The Institute is situated in its own campus at Green Gate, A 14-15-16, Paryavaran Complex on Saket-Maidangarhi Marg in South Delhi between Saket and Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Institute is conducting the above mentioned two years distance learning Programmes in collaboration with Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences. Prof.
