Master of
Science in Media Management
Objective : The
two years Distance Learning Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree in Media
Management being conducted by the Sikkim Manipal University of Health,
Medical and Technological Sciences (SMU) from the University's Extension
Campus at The Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment, New Delhi has
been designed for meeting the demand of the growing needs of experts in
the fields of print and electronic media, journalism, mass communication,
reporting, newspaper planning and management, .
Eligibility : Graduates
of any discipline (Arts / Commerce / Science / Engg. / Medicine /
Agriculture / Law etc).
Duration : Two
years
Examination : To
be conducted every year on 25-29 June and 27-31 December at Ahmedabad,
Aurangabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun,
Delhi, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur,
Jammu, Kathmandu, Kohima, Kolkata, Kota, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port
Blair, Panaji, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Raipur, Srinagar, Shillong, Shimla,
Trivandrum, Udaipur, Varanasi and Vishakhapatnam.
Award : Two
Years Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree with specialisation in Media
Management shall be awarded to all the successful candidates by Sikkim
Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences, Gangtok.
Teaching
Methodology : The
Extension Campus of the University at the Indian Institute of Ecology and
Environment, New Delhi will accord admission to the students and provide
all facilities including counselling, identity card, lessons, guidance,
assignment sheets, etc.

Study Materials : Printed
lessons will be despatched from the University's Extension Campus at the
Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment, New Delhi. The assignments
will also be sent to all the admitted participants from time to time.
These assignments will be completed by the participants as an integral
part of the Master's Degree Programme.
Medium of Instruction : Lessons
are in English and so the students appear in the examination in English.
Confirmation of
Admission : The Admissions
Office at the New Delhi Extension Campus of the University situated at the
Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment will issue the money receipt
and send confirmation letters to all the admitted participants within a
week from the date of the receipt of completed applications.The identity
card and lessons will be despatched within a month.
Examination Scheme
: Each paper is of 100
marks out of which 25 marks are for practicals and internal assessment
where as 75 marks are for written examination.
Master's Thesis : All
admitted participants will be submitting a Master's Thesis based on any
topic related to media planning, reporting, editing, development support
communication, non-verbal communication, media ethics, freedom of press,
press laws, human rights, journalistic writing, technical and science
reporting, magazines and periodicals, radio, television, satellite,
electronic camera, newspaper advertising and public relations, news and
feature agencies, traditional folk media, foreign news, documentary and
training films for corporate houses, public and private sector
undertakings, international bodies, mass awareness films and channel
planning on education, greening, human rights, peace, interfaith etc.
Tuition and Other Fee : The
total fee for the two years distance learning Master's Degree Programme is
Rs. 18,125 payable in four instalments. The first instalment of Rs. 4,625
is payable at the time of admission. The second, third and fourth
instalment of Rs. 4500 is payable in the sixth, twelfth and eighteenth
month. The examination fee will be payable as decided from time to time by
Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences,
Gangtok.
The first instalment of
Rs. 4,625 is payable at the time of admission. The second, third and
fourth instalment of Rs. 4500 is payable in the sixth, twelfth and
eighteenth month. Bank Drafts should be sent by registered post only.
Accordingly, the
completed Application Form alongwith four passport size photographs,
copies of certificates and mark sheets and a Bank Draft for the first
instalment of fee (Rs.4625) in the name of "Sikkim Manipal
University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences" payable
at New Delhi must reach Dr. Aaradhana Salpekar, Head, New Delhi Extension
Campus, Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological
Sciences, Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment, Green Gate, A 15,
Paryavaran Complex, South of Saket, Maidangarhi Marg, New Delhi - 110030
by registered post only. The completed application forms may also be
submitted personally at the Admissions Counter of the Indian Institute of
Ecology and Environment, New Delhi (Extension Campus of the Sikkim Manipal
University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences) between 9 am and
5 pm.
